As part of an on-going project of documenting life on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao--Project: "Lionel"--I undertook an expedition in February 2020 to photograph the Carnival celebrations.
The photographs here are from a retrospective edit that I presented on a virtual Zoom webinar a year after in February 2021, on what was supposed to have been the 51st official Carnival celebration but for being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
